Tron 60AIS is one of the most technologically advanced EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) to date. It incorporates both ordinary LED light and infrared light emitting diode (IR LED). This IR LED enables the use of night vision, which aids SAR (Search and Rescue) operations that take place at night or in the dark.
EPIRBs are devices that, when a ship is in a dangerous position, broadcast distress signals to ground stations in each country.
The Tron 60AIS complies with the necessary International Maritime Organization (IMO) (as of July 2022)and Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) regulations. Approved by MED, MER (UK), FCC, CCS, ANATEL, and IC.
This EPIRB is compatible with Europe's global navigation satellite system, Galileo (which has been operational since January 2020).
The Tron 60AIS has been tested in line with the international standard, IEC 61097-2 Ed.4 (April 2021), for operational and performance criteria.
