WASSP Multi-Beam Module

Discover the ocean with precision and coverage.

Using the WASSP Multi-beam Module along with the PBG Module in your TZ Professional software, you can connect this Multi-Beam Sonar via Ethernet to your computer and unlock powerful integration features that literally paint the seabed beneath your vessel with thousands of "pings" every second spread across hundreds of beams. 

The WASSP Echosounder continually collects several depth measurements of the seafloor in a swath up to 3.5 times the depth below and behind your vessel, allowing you to view what's going on on the seafloor and water column in real-time. This data is supplied straight to TIMEZERO software, which is then utilized to generate a live, high-detail, and accurate PBG seabed map. By mapping the seafloor faster than ever before, you can save time and money.

WASSP is intended for professional users that want larger coverage live mapping of the seabed in order to generate comprehensive fishing ground coverage more quickly.

With the WASSP Multi-beam Echosounder, you may quickly create your own bathymetric (PBG) map. As the name implies, the system continually sends and receives several beams from Port to Starboard across a 120° swath width. These beams return depth data for the seabed over a significantly broader region in one pass than "single beam" echosounders, which only return a single measurement immediately beneath your vessel. Instead of capturing a single depth measurement per vessel location, the WASSP Multi-beam Echosounder records 224 points every ping, saving you time and allowing you to locate the finest fishing places faster.

 

WASSP Multi-beam Echosounder Integration

The WASSP Multi-beam Echosounder comes with a dedicated DRX processor that connects directly to a computer running the TIMEZERO software with PBG and WASSP Modules.

A TIMEZERO interface license will be required for the DRX processor.

Integrating your WASSP Multi-beam Echosounder with TZ Professional will take it to a new level of functionality.

Other WASSP Benefits include:

  • BackScatter / Bottom Hardness: WASSP transmits "Backscatter" data to TIMEZERO in addition to 224 depth points per ping, allowing you to generate the PGB Map as well as the bottom hardness with Backscatter throughout the whole swath in multi-beam resolution. When you combine a WASSP Echosounder with TIMEZERO, you will obtain 3D data and bottom hardness information (which may also be presented in color immediately on your chart), as well as hundreds of beams that provide the precise edge of the harder seafloor. Backscatter data can be shown in either manual or automated mode.

  • Water Column Targets: You may now map the fish targets that you see in the fishfinder in 2D, 3D, and Cube views. You can not only map all fish targets, but you can also set the target strength of the fish you want to display, allowing you to target specific fish. If you've discovered many schools of fish using sonar, why not map them all on WASSP and determine which will best suit your quota and profitability.

  • Side Scan: WASSP employs multi-beam data to generate a highly detailed side scan image. This side scan image shows extensive information of structures on the sea bottom and can frequently distinguish them from rocks, reefs, wrecks, and weed with greater precision than mapping or fishfinders can.

  • Extremely Accurate: If you suspect that any of the PGB points are incorrect, you may eliminate WASSP PBG points in TIMEZERO by using the 'Delete PBG' tool and creating a free-hand area on the chart.

  • WASSP Sonars: TIMEZERO is compatible with the F3, F3X, and F3XL fishing WASSP models. Furuno distributes WASSP Multi-beam Echosounders.

  • You must have the PBG Module in order to use the WASSP Module (see related products for more information).
  • A WASSP Multi-beam Echosounder is also needed in order to take advantage of this module.
