The Bottom Hardness Module added with the PBG Module for the TZ Professional is compatible with third-party sounders.
The type of bottom is important for fishing. Bottom species frequently travel in accordance with the bottom type (mud, gravel, sand, or rock).
By connecting your current echo sounder to TZ Professional, you will be able to capture not only depth (3D Bathymetric charts), but also hardness. This will help you identify the bottom type.
An deep understanding of common types of bottom substrate and how fish interact with them will not only result in more fish caught, but also in the capacity to better estimate future fish movements between their cycle and the yearly seasons. The new Bottom Hardness module will be required for TZ Professional to accept these new NMEA0183 sentences.
Bottom Hardness can now be recorded via NMEA0183 using the following sounders:
* This Bottom Hardness feature requires the "Furuno Sounder" module (for NavNet sounders that support the bottom classification feature) or the "WASSP" module (for WASSP Gen1, Gen2 or Gen 3) or the "Bottom Hardness" module (for selected third party single-beam sounders).
